Chiropractic Care May Help Moms Feel Better During and After Pregnancy
A new study shows that chiropractic care could help pregnant and postpartum women feel better both physically and emotionally. The research followed 33 women from late pregnancy through six weeks after giving birth. Chiropractors helped them with common issues like back pain, pelvic discomfort, tiredness, and emotional stress.
The women filled out trusted health surveys that asked about things like pain, sleep, energy, and mood. Many saw improvements in how much pain affected their lives and how well they could move and function. Some also felt less depressed.
This is the first study to use these specific mental health tools in a chiropractic setting for pregnant and postpartum women. The results suggest that chiropractic care may play a helpful role in supporting both the body and the mind during a very important time in a woman’s life.
It also shows that chiropractors can work with other healthcare providers to make sure moms get the support they need—both physically and emotionally.
